~NaPoWriMo ~Day 2 ~ A Dream A Style ~

Today’s prompt is drawn from an idea that Kelsey Howard gave me — that of a poem that tells a lie. I think you could have a poem that’s all lies (that could be very funny — full of things like “the sun is the size of a nickel”) or a poem that steadily builds to telling one big whopper.


Oh No,it was not

it couldn’t be

a lie

when she said

she could fly

high  in the sky

Icarus was a friend

who took her to the


he fell for he did

not bend,

she was a bird

born of an egg

had a wing and

an extra leg,

at mid day when

it is dark

she would get the


She was a Lady

without any speech

no pride nor malady

no fashion no styles

no gossip, all smiles

never used cream

always had a dream

not of prince charming

nor of a queen

ah no waltz or

any ballroom dance

but only a little jig

then all of a sudden

she rose to swing her hair

and down came the wig’

she woke up with a cry’

then oped’ her eye

and in the full length

mirror-er…I saw

it was no one else

but I
