Today, I’d like you to write a poem inspired by, or in the form of, a recipe! It can be a recipe for something real, like your grandmother’s lemon chiffon cake, or for something imaginary, like a love potion or a spell.
Tis neither Grandma’s nor Old Aunty’s
nor a discovered piece of yellow paper
in a book,in a bag, inside a locked chest
Oh dear peace peace, be at peace, rest…rest,
you will know for sure
think of ingredients strange as, a pang of
pain, mountain of strength, river of passion
mound of patriotism,deluge of dedication
love profound of equality and liberation
mix them instill them, try to inculcate them
in mind and spirits of large groups of humans
add more selflessness, others before self, hard
work, bright vision, countless shifts of nations.
take a large clean pure and green, piece of land
sprinkle water from a close by river, add trees, sand
flowers, sheep, cows horses and chicken of a farmland
shower them with powder of peace, chain hand in hand
leave them for long in the sunlight check them in moon
light, then put a ring of law around from bottom to top
follow the rules they must, not to touch till all is set
no one is first no one last,no one king no one upset
and now dear poets, wonder what will be…
the result of this strange amalgamated cooked up
recipe
I really like how inventive this is!
