NAPOWRIMO 2017 ~ Day Four ~ Dismantling the Scaffolding ~

Today I’d like you to take some inspiration from Elgar and write a poem with a secret – in other words, a poem with a word or idea or line that it isn’t expressing directly. The poem should function as a sort of riddle, but not necessarily a riddle….

new lifeCruelly cold quelling seas, wave by wave recede,

conceding blocks of rugged killing cutters white,

half hiding half guiding,drifting sliding

dissolving unseen like celestial moves, bright

unfolding backdrops from range to range

as far as the eye can see, tis not the same

roots deep undertaken, stir and stretch for action

awake arise’  pull and push, tis time for resurrection

stark and stiff, lonely barks branches bare

after months of separation, now ready to share

sounds in the skies, merry melodies we adore

no perfumes sweeter than  so sweet petrichor

blessings abound after hibernation in store

rainbows shine, reawakening in color galore,

what revelation descends in moments surprising

Time begins to dismantle the  unseen scaffolding
