NAPOWRIMO 2017 ~ Day Eleven ~ Like a Rose Petal~

Prompt for the day: the Bop. The invention of poet Afaa Michael Weaver, the Bop is a kind of combination sonnet + song. Like a Shakespearan sonnet, it introduces, discusses, and then solves (or fails to solve) a problem. Like a song, it relies on refrains and repetition.
Image result for withered rose fallen

roses bloom scented colored enriched in beauty

thorns their body  fail to protect, clipped by

the gardener, presented displayed or sold…

similar is it to the feminine soul? buried alive

at birth in honor killed otherwise a thing of

beauty a joy forever ?

Life is tender like a rose petal

thousand years or thousand ships or of ancient Boskop

shifts, skeletons bones fossils prints remain, nothing survives

as laughter dies, time flies, light fades in joy or pain, vain

are we,  forgetful in power and powerful love in gardens

blissful, oblivion reigns supreme, Lethe drowns the crown

Man is surely a loser with an empty godown, an omadhaun,

amassing wealth and castles tall, why is it forgotten that

there was a fall…there will be a fall, after all,after all….

Life is tender like a rose petal

all is not lost’ was Satan’s call, ages ago, yet, still dark

how long do we play and pluck without thought and spark ?

Red or yellow or the Vlach, covered in robes or nikaab...

have we tried to avoid rape, bullet knife or honor hijaab…

know that with kings are queens, man and wife are sacred

like day and night ,dark and light, without one,no tale no head

Life is tender like a rose petal
